SB 577: Expungement

Senate Bill 577 amended Tennessee Code Annotated related to expungement of criminal records. As enacted, SB 577 allowed for victim’s of human trafficking to petition for expunction of criminal records which directly resulted from the victim’s circumstances. In accordance with SB 577, eligibility requirements included successful completion of any imprisonment term, probation and/or conditions of supervised/unsupervised release. Eligible petitioners were permitted to have multiple nonviolent convictions as per amendments.
